HELLO SWORDFISH!!!

In a few days, we'll all be back together on the SVH deck. Well.. kinda sorta! We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work through ever-changing start dates and social distancing protocols.

Like many things these days, this will be a swim season to remember! And we are hopeful you will be part of it. However, we completely understand many families hesitation to group activities at this time.

We Need Your Response!
We are asking for your response by 6pm on SATURDAY, MAY 16th on whether your family will participate in Swordfish swimming. We are providing families with the following options:

a: You don't want to participate this season and can receive a refund on your registration fees (less a non-refundable $35 per swimmer);

b: Participate in the swim season with a prorated amount to be determined toward the end of the season; or,

c: Donate your refund or prorated fees back to the SVH Swim Team whether you choose to participate this season or not.

NOTE: Registration refunds will only be given until 6pm on Saturday, May 16th. Please email us with your response here.

SVH Coronavirus Wellness Protocols

With your help, we can make this a happy and swim-filled Swordfish summer. Per USA Swimming guidelines, we are adhering to the following wellness protocols:

- Swimmers must wear masks when on deck
- Any parents/guardians on deck must wear a mask
- Everyone on deck must follow 6' social distancing measures
- Families are responsible for bringing their own hand sanitizer and/or disinfecting product
- You are encouraged to bring your own chair or disinfecting product to wipe down our deck chairs
- Bathrooms will be locked. Coaches will have the bathroom key for emergency use only
- Water bottle refill station will be closed so please bring pre-filled water bottles to practice

If you wish to participate in SVH Swim Team, you must opt-in to these policies and procedures. If you choose not to, we hope to see you back on deck with us in 2021.

Spring Practice Days and Times

We will be kicking off SVH Swim Team 2020 on Tuesday, May 19th. In order to ensure socially-distanced swim practices, we have tweaked our typical afternoon practices to the following:

3:00 - 3:45pm ~ 6 and Unders
3:45 - 4:30pm ~ 7 and 8
4:30 - 5:15pm ~ 9 and 10
5:15 - 6:00pm ~ 11 and 12
6:00 - 6:45pm ~ 13 and 14
6:45 - 7:30pm ~ 15 to 18

The age groups will be split between dry land work with Coach Mason while the other half will be in the pool with Coach Chris. The groups will then switch after 20 minutes.

NOTE: Swimmers will not be required to wear a mask while doing dry land exercises.

We won't have practice on Monday, May 25th. Happy Memorial Day! We will start summer morning practices on Monday, June 1st. Times TBD.

THANK YOU - again - for your patience and understanding as we figure out what swim team will look like in this unprecented time of Coronavirus.

Please email your response by 6pm on Saturday, May 16th.

5/08/2020

HELLO SWORDFISH!!!

Summer Family is how many describe our SVH Swim Team. And keeping our family safe and our swimmers well is of utmost importance as we look forward to starting swim practice on Tuesday, May 19th.

With that in mind, this swim season will look and feel different than what many of us are used to. With your cooperation, we can have a positive, swim-filled summer while still abiding by state and health department guidelines.

Practice Structure

Our Coaches are actively working on how practices will be structured with social distancing in mind. Practices will most likely include age groups being split between dry land drills and in-water swimming. Maintaining a 6' distance between swimmers, both in the water and out, will be of prime importance.

Swimmer Safety on Deck

For the safety of our swimmers we are following USA Swimming guidelines, which include:

  • All swimmers must arrive at practice in their suits, ready to swim;

  • All swimmers should clean their hands or apply hand sanitizer prior to entering facility;

  • Swimmers on deck must wear face masks;

  • Swimmers must bring their own filled water bottles; and

  • Swimmers must bring their own hand sanitizer or hand wipes.

Parent Safety on Deck

One of the best parts of swim team are the friendships we share with our fellow swim parents. There is nothing quite like bonding in triple digit heat while we cheer on each other's kids! However, given these unusual circumstances right now, we are asking for your cooperation with the following:

  • Drop-off is preferred if parents do not have to stay for practice;

  • Parents must follow 6' social distancing measures if they stay on deck;

  • You must wear a mask if you are on deck; and

  • Please bring your own chair or bring your own sanitizing products to wipe down our deck chairs.

Coaches Safety on Deck

Our Coaches will wear a face mask when within 6' of our swimmers. Additionally, all three Coaches will get a COVID-19 test prior to the start of the season. If at any time they begin to show signs of illness, they will take every precaution including not coaching and self-quarantining.

Ensuring Sanitized Facilities

To keep our facilities as clean and safe as possible, the following guidelines will be in place:

  • Bathroom facilities will be locked;

  • Bathrooms will be for emergency need only and Coaches will unlock the facilities for you;

  • Water bottle refill station will be closed;

  • Swimmers must enter and leave in their suits. No changing in the bathrooms;

  • No showering pre- or post-practice on deck; and

  • Basketball court will be closed.

Our Coaches will clean the bathrooms following practice each day. Furthermore, the Sabino Vista Hills HOA cleaning company will be sanitizing the restrooms several times per week.

Help Us Keep Your Swimmer Safe

We are all living a new normal these days. While we look forward to returning to some semblance of normal life, we do need your help to keep our swimmers safe. We are asking that all parents be personally responsible for their swimmers by wearing masks, cleaning hands and not coming to practice if feeling ill.

While we are doing everything we can to keep our facilities clean and our swimmers safe, please know that you are entering the SVH pool at your own risk.

Beyond Swim Practice

Until further notice, please assume swim meets against other team, Invitationals and Championships are on hold. Their occurrence will be based on state and health department guidelines.

New Swimmer Assessments will be held on Monday, May 18th and Swim Practice will start on Tuesday, May 19th. (An email with practice times and a revised practice schedule will be sent next week.)

SVH Swim Team 2020 will be one to remember! And with your help, we can make it a safe one.

If you do not want to participate in swim team this year, please email us. We look forward to seeing you in 2021!

HELLO SWORDFISH!!!

THANK YOU to all our Swordfish families, both old and new, for your continued support of our SVH team throughout these unprecedented and uncertain days.

These have been a stressful few weeks of treading water! The SVH Board and Coaches are so appreciative of your patience and understanding as we work to comply with everchanging government regulations and SAAA guidelines.

The SVH Swim Team is a nonprofit organization that operates on a lean budget. Like other youth sports teams, we too have certain hard costs that must be paid, pandemic or not, amounting to over $3000.

Registration Refunds
Without our great families, we would not have the successful swim team we have all come to love and look forward to each summer! But we also understand that many families may not feel comfortable being part of a team activity at this time.

If you would prefer NOT to swim this season, we will refund your registration fees less a non-refundable $35 SAAA and administrative fee. We are also very sensitive to every family's unique financial situation should this default option present a hardship. Please contact us and we will work with you.

Tentative Season Start Date
At this time, barring no changes in government and SAAA policies, our swim season will start on Monday, May 18th. The safety of our families and the wellness of our swimmers is of utmost importance. With that in mind, this swim season will look and feel different than what many of us are used to.

We are actively working with SAAA and other local swim teams to work through the many unknowns of how practices will be structured. Interleague meets as well as Championships are an additional uncertainty and can be expected to be structured very differently this season. Again, all these details are being currently worked on amongst league coaches and SAAA.

Prorated Season
What should have been a 14-week season has been reduced by several weeks. Without knowing what the government, health officials and SAAA will decide as we approach mid-May, we ask for your patience and understanding with regards to prorating registration fees.

With practices being structured differently this season, our Coaches tasks and workloads may be greatly increased. Until we know how this will be managed, we cannot determine a prorated percentage at this time. Registration fees will be prorated by the end of the season.

Please note: If you paid via check at our March 8th registration, those checks will be deposited on May 15th.

FAMILY SURVEY
Our families are what make our SVH team the amazing and loving swim team we are! We care about how you are feeling at this time as well as your family's level of comfort of participating in group activities at this unique time.

(Survey closed.)

THANK YOU - again - for your kindness and support over the last few weeks. Pandemic or not, we are always SWORDFISH STRONG!

HELLO SWORDFISH!!!

We will NOT start swim season on Monday as originally thought.

We continue to await word from the governor and state health officials regarding social distancing guidelines and group activities. Additionally, all teams are working with SAAA as to how the swim season will be structured given this unprecedented situation.

As always, we will keep you posted as we learn more.

We're all in this together. 🏊‍♀️

4/19/2020
HELLO SWORDFISH FAMILY!!!

Currently, our 2020 swim season will have a TENTATIVE start date of Monday, May 4th.

We continue to communicate with the SAAA as well as fellow local swim teams. We are all treading water these days as we await directives from state and local health officials. As we learn more, we will let you know.

As always, wishing you positivity, good health and another great week of online learning and working!

Thank you!
